FAQs

Can new clients book online?

Yes! All our booking is done online. You can create your client profile, upload a picture of your pet, and add any history and notes about your pet. Our booking site is available 24/7 to request appointments.

How old does my puppy need to be for grooming?

Puppies must complete all puppy vaccines before grooming. Your puppy should not socialize with other pets or go on outings until the vaccines are complete and your veterinarian approves. The only exception is rabies. If your veterinarian wants to wait until 6 months for rabies we respect their decisions. Typically at 16 to 20 weeks puppies will be ready for their first groom.

Can I bring treats or a toy?

Yes! We love it when pets come in with their favorite toy or treats. We will not give treats to your pet unless provided/ approved by you first. This helps us with training for grooming and keeping them happy!

Do you groom sedated dogs?

We must meet your pet to evaluate their needs for grooming. We will decline service for any pets given sedation unless we have spoken with your vet directly and have been able to evaluate their behavior ourselves.

How often should my pet be groomed?

Pets need grooming on a monthly basis. Monthly grooming keeps their skin and haircoat healthy. Monthly grooming gives us the opportunity to get a consistently good look at your pet’s skin. We always look for any new lumps or bumps to help maintain their overall wellness. Matting is common for high-maintenance coats that go longer than 4 weeks between grooming. Pets that shed need frequent bathing and brushing to decrease the hair in your home/entire life. Another critical factor is their nails. Dog nails grow quickly and need frequent trimming to stay at a healthy length. Letting their nails get too long can alter their foot posture and cause pain and discomfort when walking.

What’s the grooming process like for my dog?

At drop off please let us know any details on behavior and desired style. We meet and greet your pet and allow them to decompress a bit before we begin grooming. We will give them rest or play breaks as needed throughout the groom. We begin with a warm bath using a blueberry facial scrub, then shampoo and condition their hair coat. Next, we towel dry and blow dry them completely by hand. After the bath and dry, we check their ears and trim and dremel their nails. Once these steps are complete we trim their hair for full-service grooming. Or we continue brushing for de-shedding. When we are nearly done with the groom we will give you a 30-minute notice via text or call. At pick-up, we will go over how their appointment went and schedule their next groom if they're not yet on a recurring schedule.

Can I leave my dog for daycare after the appointment?

We offer daycare on a limited basis to stay low in volume. If daycare is needed we need advanced notice prior to your appointment time. Otherwise, prompt pick-up is required to keep a calm and peaceful environment. Please note you should schedule the appointment for when you are able to be there within 30 minutes of the groom's completion to avoid a late pick-up fee.

Do you use kennels?

We are a cage-free salon! We do have the ability to provide a kennel upon request as some pets prefer a kennel. However, we do allow them to wait in the dog lounge area or stay by us until you return.

Do you shave labs, golden, huskies or any double coated dogs?

No, we don't shave double-coated dogs. Arizona summers are hot! The best way to keep your pet cool is by removing undercoat with proper frequent grooming. Shaving can be detrimental to some coat types, especially with a genetic predisposition or underlying health issue that will prevent the coat from growing back properly. Shaving doesn't protect them from the sun/heat. In fact, exposing their skin can invite skin cancer in all breeds.

What's creative grooming?

Creative grooming is all for fun! We can provide coat carving or color services. Sometimes people request this service for a gender reveal or wedding. Other times it's just a splash of color for fun. We will only use our own pet-safe color products. Some are even edible as they are vegetable based. We do have a temporary blow in color that will last a week to a month. Or we have permanent dye that will fade with time or be trimmed off in time. We don't provide color add-on services on the first visit. Your pet must be comfortable with a longer grooming session and table time. Creative grooming requires extra time.

What is coat renovation/ hand stripping?

This style of grooming is how grooming began hundreds of years ago! We remove blown coat by carding or stripping by hand only. This service is how terrier coats are meant to be maintained. Breeds like West Highlands Terriers or Schnauzers are meant to be stripped to keep their coats’ natural texture in prime condition. Complete hand stripping requires a 4 to 6-week schedule depending on your pet’s coat cycle. You can request a coat renovation if your pet has been shaved in the past. This will help bring back a lackluster coat and is a healthier option than shaving.

My pet might not like other dogs or grooming, can he still come to you?

This is determined on a case-by-case basis. We can set up a meet-and-greet appointment to see how your pet acclimates to our salon. Some pets may seem weary or reactive while leashed but are fine off-leash or without their owner present. If we don't feel confident a cage-free environment is best for your pet we will suggest a different environment or mobile groomer, that is better suited for your pet’s needs. Our furry clients and staffs safety is absolutely our top priority.
